Olivia Egan-Rudolph, CFSU

Strength Coach

[expand title=”Read Bio” swaptitle=”Close Bio“]

With a degree in Environmental Science and Political Theory, Olivia’s career path towards fitness wasn’t liner. Motivated by her desire to effect change in underserved communities, she took a job in the nonprofit sector after graduation but quickly encountered burnout. Long-hours, and emotionally taxing and poorly rewarded work were commonplace. Self-care was seen as a guilty pleasure, a once-in-a-while feel good luxury instead of an individual and organizational necessity. While sacrificing one’s health in service of a cause is a common narrative in the nonprofit sector, Olivia thought it was time to change the status quo. She started a practice of radical self-care that ultimately lead her to pursue a career in fitness. Movement became an act of self-preservation, not an indulgence.

As a high school and college athlete, Olivia developed a passion for sport at an early age. It wasn’t until her early-twenties that she realized that movement was indispensable and inseparable from her physical and mental well-being. Now she’s on a mission to spread the positive by-products of movement using strength and conditioning as her platform. As an ACSM Certified Personal Trainer and Certified Functional Strength Coach, Olivia believes that physical activity should be fun, easily accessible and effective. She’s a devoted practitioner who believes that exercise is medicine for the body and the mind.

Olivia splits her time between San Jose and Santa Cruz coaching athletes who range in ability and sport. Olivia dedicates her free time to practicing her craft and continuing education. She’s an outdoor enthusiast who prefers the company of trees to the cityscape. She competes in middle and long distance running races and biathlons.
