Reduce Your Risk with Exercise

We’ve all heard the stats: 1 in 8 women will develop breast cancer at some point in their lifetime. But the good news is you can reduce your risk by making better lifestyle choices, particularly with diet and exercise. According to the Susan G. Komen Foundation:

  • Women who get regular exercise (physical activity) have a 10-20 percent lower risk of breast cancer than women who are inactive.
  • Exercise also boosts the body’s immune system so it can help kill or slow the growth of cancer cells.

But we all know getting enough exercise can be challenging, especially when we’re trying to juggle full-time jobs, families and social lives. Here are some helpful tips for fitting it into a busy schedule:

Take Calls on the Go

Got a few regular conference calls during the week? Grab your phone and some earphones and take that call on a walk around the block! Even 30 minutes of brisk walking a few times a week can have a huge impact on your health – and you’ll get work done at the same time! #winning

Get Social

You don’t have to go solo. Research shows that getting support from friends and family can help people sustain their fitness goals. So grab a friend or co-worker and get out of the building a few times a week together.

Schedule a Workout

We schedule meetings all day long, why not a workout? Start with picking one or two times a week that you know you can consistently fit in a 30 or 60-minute workout, and build from there.
Starting in November we’ll be offering new High-Intensity Training classes conveniently after work at three of our nearby locations so consider penciling us in!
