Practice Safe Sun

Getting Ready for Summer

No UV For You

Summertime is when we really spend a lot of time outdoors. And why not? More daylight hours. Holidays. Getting closer to nature. It just feels so healthy. What’s not to love about summer? Almost nothing, except two letters: U and V.

UV radiation from the summer sun in the summer can do a lot of harm to our skin and eyes. We want to get you outdoors while keeping your skin and eyes healthy.  That’s why we want to help you practice #safesun.

Going undercover

You don’t need to stay indoors and hide from the sun but there are things you should know and do to help you deal with UV light and keep your summer healthy!

  • Avoid sun exposure during peak times of the day—10 am to 2 pm, the times of the day when your shadow is short.
  • Wear sun protective clothing including long sleeved shirts, pants, wide-brimmed hats that shield the face, ears and back of the neck and sunglasses. Apply sunscreen that provides UVA and UVB protection to exposed parts of the skin and re-applying after sweating, swimming, or at 1-2 hour intervals is important.
  • Wear sunglasses that have UVA and UVB protection. Most do, but remmeber that its not how dark they are that matters.

Read our blogs this month. Attend our events. Make an appointment with our team at our Practice to find out more about how to practice safe sun.
